The knowledge of Transcendental Meditation has been kept lively and pure in the Vedic tradition of India, the worlds oldest tradition of knowledge.

Veda means truth, or knowledge, and this tradition provides knowledge about many areas of life from the standpoint of what quantum physicists would call the unified field of natural law, the field of pure intelligence underlying all creation.

As an example, Yoga comes from the Vedic tradition, as does Ayur-Veda, the worlds most ancient system of health care, and Sthapatya Veda knowledge about building homes and work-places in harmony with natural law.

Such ancient knowledge has known cycles of revival and slow degradation, and in this technological age there has been a global revival instigated by foremost Vedic scholar, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

After completing a conventional university education as a young man in the late 1930s, Maharishi studied in the Himalayas with his own teacher for many years, and in 1957 he inaugurated a movement to make the TM technique available in all countries.

With the passing of the years this non-profit, educational organisation has become established in virtually every country of the world, and now also teaches the various branches of Vedic knowledge revived in their pure form by Maharishi, with the practice of TM at their core. Transcendental Meditation is a technique only, and it does not require any faith or change in religion, lifestyle or culture. It has been taught in schools, hospitals, monasteries, businesses even in the armed forces. It is a universal procedure that anyone, regardless of background, can learn from the age of ten years upward. It is unique and fundamentally different from any other meditation technique or self-development programme.
