Hello, Stephen here ... just wanted to express my admiration for a celebrity, Oprah Winfrey. Over the years when I have seen her show (from time to time) the thought has come that her altruistic philosophies would be greatly helped if she could learn TM. Here is what I have discovered in this report just in from the USA ...

Oprah had been aware of Transcendental Meditation for some time, but it was only a few months ago that she finally learned TM in Chicago. She had tried other forms of meditation, and she's reportedly quite pleased that she now found something that works. She was sufficiently inspired to then promptly pay for TM instruction for the 250+ employees of her company.
They now have group TM practice twice daily at her company and apparently everyone loves it.

Oprah wanted to do a documentary programme about TM, MUM and Fairfield. (Maharishi University of Management and associated community in Fairfield, Iowa)
She decided what the agenda would be. She wanted to visit the Maharishi School, the Vedic Pandits, people that had moved to Fairfield from other locations, and she wanted to meditate in the dome. She wanted to speak directly to the people and bypass movement leaders.

Arriving at the Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment, Oprah remarked. 'I have been waiting for the Age of Enlightenment all my life.'  She saw many of the students, and stopped to meditate with part of the sixth grade. She told the students that they were'Fortunate to be students here... I will make this school famous.'

Oprah interviewed a family that moved from Atlanta to live in Fairfield. She wanted to meet a family and hear why people would relocate to be a part of the community here.

At the end of the day, she went to the dome for the group meditation. Oprah meditated surrounded by the women of the community. On the way out, she saw a number of framed posters with quotes from great thinkers throughout history. One was from Marcus Aurelius that said that the greatest solace was expressed in silence. Oprah said that these quotes described the essence of TM. She described her meditation in the dome as the best experience of her life.

In 1991, Oprah was taping a show about the nature of the soul.
Halfway through the show, she stopped taping. She felt no one
in the studio audience understood the subject matter. Ten years
later she tried again, and still the audience did not understand.
'I have been looking for people that understand the soul, she said,
Now I have found them.'

The show will air in the USA on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) in January. As that time approaches you could go to the following website to find the broadcast date and time:

Meanwhile in this photo below you can see one of the meditation domes in the background while the foreground features Dr David Lovell-Smith of Christchurch during a recent visit.
