Transcendental Meditation and Stress
Stress is the medical term for excessive wear and tear in the central nervous system. During TM the body experiences a unique state of deep rest - the exact opposite of a stressful response - allowing it to dissolve stress and function more normally as reflected in the improved health, productivity and enjoyment of life of the TM practitioner.
A meta-analysis completed at Stanford University compared all 148 known independent studies which had been conducted on different methods to reduce trait anxiety, a measure of chronic stress, and found that the TM technique was more than twice as effective as any other system.
